Light Services Header

Light Services:

Driving at night presents special problems. People, cars and other objects of the that might be visible during the day can become nearly invisible after sunset. Other drivers’ bright lights can reduce vision to zero. An unknown or unexpected road turns an already risky situation into a doubly dangerous situation overnight. There are certain precautions that should be taken into account to avoid accidents at night, to make sure all the lights are properly oriented and fully functional, and to avoid burning out lights.

Lights and Lighting:

Highlights: Also known as High beams or beams. Very intense, provide more extensive guidance as 100 meters ahead of the vehicle lighted area can cause glare for other drivers .

Lowlights: Also called short or city lights, lowlights are not used to dazzle other road users. The light beam must reach a distance of 30 meters long.

Fog Lights: Two lights are also located on the front and yellow are particularly used when there is fog.

Signal Lights: Signal lights are designed to warn other road users of the vehicle’s presence, their vehicle’s identification, and their movements and changes in direction. Signal lights are placed in the front, back and side of the vehicle, are white, red and yellow or amber, and can be distinguished as follows

Ordinary Lights: Also called population lights, these are used to establish the position of the vehicle and make it visible in both directions.

Brake Lights: notify other drives that you are operating the brake. These lights are red.

Address Lights:  Generally called blinkers because they are intermittent. Indicate the change of direction to the right or left and are light yellow or amber. These lights are placed in the front, back and side. Blinkers director must always be in perfect working condition, be visible both day and night, and deactivated as soon as you finish the maneuver.

Reverse Lights: They warn other drivers that the vehicle is in reverse. These white lights are placed on the rear of the car.

Yield Lights: Of use in some heavy vehicles, these lights are green and placed on the left rear of the vehicle to tell other drivers you want to pass

Plate Lights:  Placed on the back and white, to make legible the plate at 20 meters.

Additional lights for heavy vehicles: These lights should be placed along the edges and on a higher plane than the other lights and are used to identify heavy vehicles

Indicator Lights: At the front, these lights will glow white or yellow, with two yellow lights on the sides and two red lights in the back.

Positional Lights: These serve to make a parked vehicle visible on poorly lit roads. Hazard lights are also used to serve this purpose, firing four intermittently.

Specialty Flashers: The lights are found only on emergency and official vehicles, like police cars, ambulances, and state vehicles.
